Delta Dear Tea 2021

The Knoxville Alumnae Chapter honored our “Dedicated – Energetic – Active – Respected – Sorors” better known as Delta DEARS this weekend. DEARS are members of Delta Sigma Theta’s sisterhood who have been blessed to reach the golden age of 62 years. The KAC Delta DEAR Tea was filled with sweet moments, surprise gifts and lunch on us! It might have been virtual but you could feel the love in the “room.” Oh, to be a Delta!

Our fabulous Membership Services committee coordinated contactless drive thru pickup of Delta DEAR gifts. Divas and Dolls picked up the bags and delivered them to the doorstep of their DEARS.

The smiles on the KAC Delta DEARS were priceless when they FINALLY could see what was in their bag during the virtual tea!

Special Moments

Sisterhood can’t be stopped. Avis Andrews-Gary is visiting family but brought her red so she could celebrate with her DEAR sisters!

Christina Goode is new to the Delta DEAR circle and got to celebrate with her newly initiated legacy, Christiana.

Veronica Smith enjoyed her first KAC DEAR Tea. She’s new to Knoxville Alumnae after moving to Knoxville from Miami Alumnae Chapter.

Long-time KAC member, Eddie Mae Robinson, who will be turning 100 this summer, joined her Delta DEAR sisters on the phone from Maryland!

Thank you Membership Services for honoring our Delta DEARS!

Member Spotlight: Happy Birthday Dr. Lula Powell!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: We celebrate the legacy of our dear past president, Dr. Lula Powell, as she turns 90 years young!

A retired educator, Dr. Powell was the longest-serving principal at Green Magnet Math and Science Academy. In 2015, Knoxville City Council voted to rename Town View Drive off Summit Hill Drive to “Lula Powell Drive.”
Her storied 42-year career in education as a teacher, librarian, and principal was also paired with her dedicated service to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she served as president in 1963.

Delta Dear Tea

Beulah Sinclair Delta Dear Tea 2018

The first Annual Beulah Sinclair Delta Dear Tea was held May 19, 2018 at the knox County Public Works Building. The Delta Dear Tea honors our Delta Dears in the Knoxville Alumnae Chapter. Visiting Soror Sandra Griffin was also in attendance. Moving performance by Delta Heartbeats engaged the audience in praising God. Delicious food was prepared by Linda Catering. Those in attendance received beautiful gifts by Politely designed. Delta Dear of the Year,  Soror Joyce Perry, was moved to tears and speechless, as she graciously accepted her award.

A beautiful powerpoint presentation composed of Delta Dears biographies,  pictures and Pearls of Wisdom was read aloud by Sorors Joycelyn Perry and Michelle Lattimore.  Sorors Rawls, Jenkins, Hardy and Singleton help transform the room into a wonderful dinning area.  Welcome done by Chapter President Carmanelette Rawls with prayer by Renee McClure.  Soror Christina Goode provided technology and Michelle Lattimore gave closing remarks.
